Flaxwood Festival's original home was a country property situated on Flaxton Road, just a few kilometres from Christchurch en route to Rangiora. The rolling mounds, lakes, and huge expanses of lawn enabled festival-comers to bring their own rugs and refreshments, and to enjoy an afternoon of perfect relaxation and great entertainment by a wide-range of internationally recognised artists, and local acts. The traditional Festival format sees guests arriving from 11:30am, and being welcomed and provided with a range of light entertainment, as a countdown to the main concert which follows official formalities at 1:00pm. Food/refreshments are available on-site, and the concert proper features charity recipients, The Woolston Brass who support an array of featured artists, as the Festival continues through until it's conclusion at around 6:00pm. Although Flaxwood Festival has not operated since 2014 due to unavailability of the original venue, it is highly likely that it's charitable work will continue, along similar lines, after relocatiion to another semi-rural venue. Please watch this website for appropriate announcements which will be made in due course. |
